Looking for a weighted vest in Singapore? The right one should sit close to your body, let you move without constantly adjusting it, and allow you to change the load without making your workout more complicated.
The Ergorilla Weighted Vest comes in 12kg, 16kg and 20kg options, with detachable 1kg iron blocks. At the time of writing, prices start from S$167. It is built for people who want to train at home and add resistance to their bodyweight workouts without dealing with a bulky, restrictive vest.

What should you look for before buying a weighted vest?
A heavier vest is not automatically better. Neither is a vest with the thickest padding.
The main question is whether it helps you train properly without causing unnecessary movement, rubbing or restriction.
| What to check | Why it matters | Simple test before buying | What Ergorilla is designed around |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Snug Fit | A loose vest can bounce, shift and distract you during every rep. | Look out for product demos. Does the vest shift during exercises or leave gaps? | A compact fit with a rear adjustment strap and front buckles. |
| Freedom of movement | A vest should add load, not stop you from using your normal range of motion. | Look out for product demos. Does the vest look restrictive when performing Pull Ups or Push Ups? | A smaller profile intended for calisthenics and home training movements. |
| Adjustable load | You should be able to use a manageable load for different exercises instead of being stuck with one weight. | Check how small each adjustment can be and whether the weight can be balanced evenly. | Detachable 1kg iron blocks across the 12kg, 16kg and 20kg versions. |
| Construction | Straps, seams, buckles and weight pockets are handled repeatedly. They need to stay reliable through normal use. | Look at the strap system, stitching, fastening points and how the weight is secured. | Oxford fabric, double stitched load bearing areas, adjustable straps and coated iron blocks. |
| Delivery and support | Price means little if delivery terms, returns or product support are unclear. | Read the shipping and return policy before ordering. | Singapore based support, current delivery policy and a direct product page with live availability. |
Tactical weighted vest or adjustable iron block weighted vest?

There are two common styles people compare: tactical plate carrier style vests and adjustable block vests.
Neither is automatically better. The right choice depends on how you train.
| Comparison | Tactical style vest | Adjustable iron block vest |
|---|---|---|
| Load format | Usually uses rigid weighted plates. | Uses multiple removable blocks. |
| Weight adjustment | Often depends on changing plates or adding another plate. | Lets you add or remove smaller blocks more gradually. |
| Feel during movement | Usually keeps weight concentrated on the chest and back. | Can spread the load around the torso, depending on the vest design and block layout. |
| Typical use | Often chosen for rucking or tactical style training. | Useful for calisthenics, home workouts and different bodyweight movements. |
| What to inspect | Plate fit, rigidity and comfort during your movements. | Block security, balance, strap adjustment and compact fit. |
For home training, I prefer a vest that lets you adjust the load with minimal hassle, without wrestling with tight parts. Just add your load and get on with the workout. Don't overcomplicate fitness.
Why we designed Ergorilla differently
Most weighted vests look impressive on the shelf. Thick straps, oversized padding and a tactical appearance can make a vest seem more serious.
But more cushioning does not always equal more comfort. This is a common myth.
When a vest becomes too thick or bulky, it can sit further away from your body. That makes it easier for the vest to move independently from you. Thick straps can also rub against the neck when you raise your arms. Excessive material can trap heat and create more contact against sweaty skin.
That was the problem we wanted to solve.
Our Prototyping Process
Prototype 1.0 - 1.4
We bought and tested SEVEN weighted vest designs from local and overseas brands such as GravGear and GORNATION. We went through FOUR prototype rounds before arriving at the first Ergorilla shape.
Yes, we take the design of our Weighted Vest very seriously.
At first, we also hypothesized that the larger the padding and straps, the more comfortable it would be on the shoulders. We were quickly proven wrong when we blind-tested our users. Unnecessarily wide straps cause painful chafing around the neck and shoulders while large padding causes the vest to be inflexible and prevents it from hugging your body. Here is what we found to really work for weighted vests.
The design kept coming back to the same principles:
- A snug fit that reduces unnecessary movements
- Sleeker shoulder straps to prevent chafing while still providing necessary support
- Less unnecessary material around the torso
- A compact profile that works better in a bedroom, living room or small training corner

Prototype 2.0
We then sold the first batch locally, collected feedback and improved the vest again. We made changes to the materials and this time pushed the limit of how small the vest could be while still being able to hold 20 kg. This 20kg Ergorilla vest is even more compact than 16kg vests from local brands.
Prototype 3.0
We then added an in-built pouch for your phone, keys and wallet if you intend to go on long walks or work out outside. This came solely from feedback from dozens of our customers. This is currently the latest version of the Ergorilla Weighted Vest.

This does not mean Ergorilla is the automatic answer for everyone. It means we are clear about what we built it for: people who want an ergonomic and comfortable weighted vest for home workouts and calisthenics, without the bulk and restriction of many common designs.
Which Ergorilla weighted vest should you choose?
All three Ergorilla options use detachable 1kg blocks. The capacity is the maximum you can work up to. You do not need to use the full load.
| Option | Current price | What is included | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12kg | S$167 | Detachable 1kg blocks and adjustable strap system | Someone who wants the lowest entry price and exercises regularly. |
| 16kg | S$209 | Detachable 1kg blocks, adjustable strap system and phone pouch |
Someone who wants more capacity and a practical place for their phone during home training, with a balanced weight range for more intense training. |
| 20kg | S$239 | Detachable 1kg blocks, adjustable strap system and phone pouch | Someone who wants to maximize the potential of weighted training and is aiming for advanced levels of fitness and strength. |
Do not choose only by the biggest number.

Choose the option that gives you enough room to adjust your load while keeping your movements controlled. A lighter setup you use consistently is more useful than a heavier one that stays in the corner because it feels awkward or excessive.

Buying a weighted vest from a Singapore brand
Buying locally should make the practical parts easier.
You can check the price in Singapore dollars, read the current delivery policy, ask product questions directly and know where to go if something is unclear after ordering.
CaliChimps currently processes and ships orders within 4 to 8 business days. Holidays and unusually high order volume can affect this, so check the live policy before ordering.
Read the current shipping policy.
If you are deciding between Ergorilla and another vest, compare:
- How the vest fits and adjusts
- Whether the load can be changed in useful increments
- How much movement it allows
- What material, straps and fastening system it uses
- What is included at each price point
- Delivery, return and support terms
Product photos alone rarely tell you how a vest will feel during a pull up, push up or squat. Look for close up images, movement demo videos and concrete specifications.

Can I use a weighted vest for calisthenics at home?
A weighted vest can add external load to suitable bodyweight movements such as controlled push ups, pull ups, squats and lunges. Start with a manageable load, keep your technique controlled and make sure the vest does not change your movement in an uncomfortable way.
For help setting up, balancing and fitting the vest, read the Ergorilla instruction and usage guide.
What makes a weighted vest comfortable?
Comfort is usually more about fit, stability, strap placement and freedom of movement than padding alone. A good vest should sit close to the body, stay balanced and avoid rubbing or shifting while you move.
Read the weighted vest buying guide for the full comparison checklist.
Ready to make your home workouts harder?
You do not need a room full of equipment to train properly at home.
A weighted vest gives basic movements more resistance without making your setup more complicated. The important part is choosing one that fits well, moves with you and gives you room to progress.
