When actually put to the test, most Weighted Vest actually fail.
We have designed the best Weighted Vest for comfort and performance. The Ergorilla Weighted Vest
Its simple but most don’t see beyond the surface: More cushion does not equal more comfort.
Many “Premium” Weighted Vest brand tell you that their Vests are comfortable to wear and your shoulders will barely feel a thing because of their massive shoulder paddings. Let’s be honest, your shoulders WILL ache when you carry a weight that you’re not used to carrying.
The key thing is: Whether the Weighted Vest causes additional pain for your skin and restricts your movement.
Spoilers: Excessive shoulder padding causes MORE chafing.

What makes a comfortable Weighted Vest
Anti-Chafing
Imaging powering through a 30-minute workout and after taking off the Weighted Vest you see red marks on your shoulders. Over time, it may even leave some surface scarring.
Workouts shouldn’t be anymore painful than it already is. You should be focused on the burn in your muscles during the exercises rather than the pain on your skin.
The last thing you want is to hold back on your reps to avoid the painful rub of the Vest against your skin.
No Restrictions
As a seasoned Calisthenics athlete with more than 8 years training with a Weighted Vest, range of motion is crucial for effective gains.
A Weighted Vest shouldn’t stop you from performing your full range of motion. Can you imagine doing a Push-Up and failing to fully straighten your arms because the Vest is in the way?
I can because I have. It’s not worth it.
Less gains and decreased fitness benefits? No thanks.

Padding Thickness
The idea of having a thick padding is not wrong. In theory it works.
But there is a sweet spot on the thickness that my team of athletes and myself have discovered that makes it comfortable and ergonomic.
Beyond this sweet spot, how the Vest sits on your body changes. The Vest starts to lose its “hugging” effect making it feel bulkier and looser. You want a Vest to hug snugly to your body during your exercises.
If it is designed too thick, the Vest loses its flexibility and becomes stiff. It would feel like the edge of thick cardboard rubbing on you.
Of course, it should not be too thin that the fabrics starts to cut into your skin.
Strap Thickness
When it comes to the width of the Vest straps, there is also a sweet spot.
It cannot be too thin that the pressure becomes too uncomfortable to handle.
It also cannot be too thick. This is where most Vests get it wrong. They design the strap to be as thick as possible to attempt to spread out the weight evenly.
In doing so, the straps start to rub against your neck when you move and especially for exercises like the Pull-Up. Such movements that require your arms to be able to move freely, will cause the rubbing.

The Prototyping Process
We tested 7 different Weighted Vest brands & design. We went through 4 Full Prototyping Process. After much experiments & trials, the Ergorilla Weighted Vest was born.
Then we sold 50 of them, gathered over 30 honest feedback from our local Singaporean customers, and improved it again.
In Singapore, no one takes the design of the Weighted Vest as seriously as us.
Our Weighted Vest are Compact & Cool
“I bought it because it looked more compact than other vests”, ”I loved that the vest was so compact”. These were some of the comments from our verified customers.
Yes, our Weighted Vests are extremely compact and are the opposite of bulky.
Cut away unnecessary material
We thought of all ways that we could reduce the size of the vest and where material was unnecessary, and were simply trapping for heat or hindering movement.
Reducing the material meant reduced bulkiness. This means that the size of the Weighted Vest is suitable for all body shapes and types.
It is easy to maintain and also easier to equip & remove for training.

Minimize unnecessary contact on skin
A more compact vest minimizes the chance of chafing from the material on the skin.
As you are in the midst of an intense workout, you don’t want to be distracted my loose and unnecessary material making contact with your sweaty skin. This makes the workout more comfortable as we all hate the feeling of wet fabric constantly sticking and peeling off our skin.
Reduce heat trapping
Heat is loss naturally through our skin to cool us down. Too much material traps the heat and keeps it within our bodies.
A compact Weighted Vest means that heat can be dissipated more easily from your body. This gives you a very comfortable and cool experience even as the intensity of your workouts and the temperature of your body increases.
It also increases your performance as your body is able to better regulate its temperature. This gives every rep and exercise a boost and you get to enjoy the benefits and results of a quality workout.
